Our vintage black pencil dress takes its inspiration from Audrey Hepburn’s ‘Holly Golightly’ character in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The 1961s film is full of iconic fashion moments thanks to costume designer Edith Head. She enlisted the talents of designer Hubert de Givenchy.
THE ICONIC VINTAGE BLACK PENCIL DRESS
The opening scene features Audrey wearing a beautiful black evening gown with a wide boat neck, just like the neckline of our Fenella Dress. This one look put the little black dress on the fashion map. Our, more wearable, knee length lbd pays homage to the work of Givenchy. It even features period correct tucks at the waist as opposed to more commonly used darts.
Wear with our long black satin gloves for evening, or with the matching jacket and your biggest retro shades for the day. Just don’t forget your pearls girls!

Our vintage black pencil dress is made from 100% cotton and is tightly fitted on the waist so please check the measurements on our size chart. The skirt is a fitted pencil design, with a back skirt slit, but is period correct. This means it’s cut wide enough for you to comfortably walk in!
Conventional darts can be found at the back of the skirt. At the front you’ll find pleated tucks which were used in the 1950s and 1960s but are barely seen today.
Shoulder seam to hem measures approximately 42" (107cm depending on size)
There is a metal ykk zip at the back.
