I have touched on this subject in one of our girdle videos (and have received a lot of thanks for doing so!) but it's a question we get asked a lot: so here's the definitive answer.
Your Three Options for Peeing in a Suspender Belt or Girdle
Whether you are wearing an open bottom girdle, corselette or suspender belt you will find yourself wondering how on earth do you go for a pee. When these garments are pictured the garments are always worn over knickers, so naturally a modern day wearer would think that's the best way to wear them: but you have options.
1. Knickers worn on Top
This is the most traditional way of wearing knickers with your girdle, suspender or corselette. In the past knickers were a lot bigger than they are today and at What Katie Did, we design our high waist styles so that they should meet the top of your suspender belt to give an aesthetically appealing look while still being practical.
The same would have been done with girdles or Corselettes although the finished look would not be so elegant.

2. Knickers worn Underneath
You do have a couple of options here to make things a little easier. If you are wearing smaller knickers then it's probably not necessary to undo all your suspender straps, you might be able to pull your underwear down enough just by undoing the back two straps.
Alternatively you can just pull your gusset to the side (my method of choice).
No Knickers at All!
3. Thirdly you have the option of no knickers at all: no picture to illustrate this version!
Why Do Brands Photograph Suspenders over Knickers?

Ever since garments with suspenders have been made, they've generally been pictured with the knickers under the suspender belt or girdle and we get asked 'why?' frequently on social media.
If you're on social media it might not be obvious that the picture you're looking at has been posted by a brand hence the query as to why the garments are worn the way they are. The simple answer is that, as a brand, we have to photograph the suspenders on top of the knickers otherwise you can't see what you're purchasing! The same applies to adverts of the 1940s and 1950s which always showed the suspenders over the knickers so the customer could see what they looked like.
How Do You Wear Your Suspenders?
Suspender Belts are the most popular garment today used to hold up stockings. All of our stockings need a Suspender Belt to hold them up, and we recommend a belt with 6 straps which helps keep your nylons in place.
Alternatively you can combine shapewear with your stocking suspension: choose from a Girdle, Waist Cincher, Corselette or Merry Widow.
