We’re adding a little colour for Spring with our blue satin Cynthia set. The satin used in this set is a beautiful satin with just a hint of sheen, which I sourced last year on an impromptu visit to the fabric centre of India: Surat.

As always, our aim at What Katie Did is for you to get as much wear as possible from our pieces. The lace used in our Cynthia set is the same used in our Celia 1940s Lingerie. If you would like to wear our Celia French Knickers with our new Cynthia set they will match perfectly.

Surat is the hub of fabric sourcing in India. The huge choice of fabric was rather overwhelming and its certainly a place where you need a guide and translator to help you find what you’re looking for in the maze of buildings. The fabric markets are based in the poorer part of the city which means that redevelopment has not started yet. I loved the faded glamour of the architecture which was mostly date to the 1930s and '40s.
