Vintage Gerbe Corail Fully Fashioned Stockings VS053
Sheer fully fashioned stockings by famed French hosiery brand Gerbe. From the packaging these date back to the late 1960s.
No denier is mentioned on the packet or welt imprint but it does say: 2 fils, 11 drs, 60 gauge, which translates to 2 wires, 11 drs, 60 gauge. At a first guess this would imply that these stockings are 11 denier, but the 2 threads bring them up to 22 denier which looks more like it.
The colour is barely black.
It's not possible to tell the heel type without opening but they're probably a point heel.
At a size 10, these stockings should officially fit a UK foot size 6, US foot size 8, Euro foot size 39. These nylons are a newer vintage so I would expect them to have a more modern fit to be worn higher on the leg than stockings made in the 1950s.
Welt Imprint: There is a welt imprint on the welt of these stockings. As with all vintage welt imprints unfortunately they will flake off when worn. If you do find a pretty welt imprint on a pair of stockings the best way to preserve it is to frame them and keep them as a piece of art.
